The Maggi Ban

Things got grim when a Ph.D. scholar took a sample of Maggi noodles to the laboratory and found MSG when Maggi labeled “No MSG” on its packets in 2015. This caused a backlash and led to a ban on all Maggi products. 

In 2019, the company admitted to adding lead to their Maggi packets. After several research and discussions, it was found that lead was present in ‘safe’ amounts.

However, post the scrutiny; Nestle is still able to sell its noodles in the market, claiming that the lead present is in permissible amount.
